What are we learning?
Eureka! In to Space!
We will begin the summer term by exploring the world of the Ancient Greeks. Our super start for the topic will be an Ancient Greek day where the children will dress up and immerse themselves in the world of Ancient Greece. Throughout the day we will be investigating Greek artifacts and what they can tell us about life during the time, having fashion show, play Greek games and acting out Greek plays. This will launch a wonderful half term discovering about everyday life, religion, democracy and the legacy they have left behind. After half term we will launch into outer space and discover what enthralled the Ancient Greeks in the cosmos. Children will look at stars, planets and how the sun effects night and day and the seasons. Inspired by the new BBC documentary “Earth from Space”, we will also be investigating how our understanding of earth has improved since space travel and what we can do to preserve it for future generations.
retold and illustrated by Marcia Williams
Our main text for the first half term is Greek Myths which have been retold and illustrated by Marcia Williams. The Greek myths are among the greatest, most exciting stories ever told and feature some of the world's best loved heroes and heroines. Each myth has been retold with lively text and dramatic cartoon style, making them accessible and fun for children.
