Whatever the Weather
Our topic this term is ‘Whatever the Weather' where we will be 'travelling around the world' to compare the weather, looking at weather forecasting, extreme weather and the impact it has on us and global warming.
In Literacy, we will begin with poetry, themed around weather. We will then be moving on to information writing, again based on the theme of weather.
We're also looking forward to celebrating our love of reading on World Book Day on Thursday 1st March. Who will you dress up as?
In Maths, we will begin with number and place value and use these skills to revise methods for addition and subtraction.
In Science, we will be exploring the seasons, looking for signs of Spring and thinking about how the weather changes across the seasons.
In DT, we will be making a wet weather hat for Mr Bear by conducting product research and designing a successful product using our findings.
In RE, the first half of the half term will focus on Judaism. We will then learn about the key events in the Easter Story.
How to help at home
Each week children will come home with sound button sheets which they can complete each day. It would also be useful to continue practising number bonds between 5 and 10, looking at subtraction facts as well as addition.
Please continue to read at least 5 times each week along with incidental reading of signs, labels, instructions etc.
As the weather is turning colder, please can children have a tracksuit top and bottoms included in their PE bag for outdoor PE.
