The Jolly Postman
Our big question this term is ‘How do we communicate?'. We will explore the role of postal workers and the journey of a letter once we post it. We will travel back in time to find out how communication has changed, along with discovering some weird and wonderful ways to communicate.
We will start the term looking at reading and writing numbers, counting up and down in ones and jumps of 2, 5 and 10. Following on from this we will be working on our addition and subtraction skills and we will complete the half term with some investigations in to 2D shape.
In Literacy we will be learning about writing postcards and letters. We will link our work to the story of The Jolly Postman and will enjoy role play and finding out about the characters we meet.
We will begin by identifying and naming materials and learn to tell the difference between an object and a material. We will go on to describe the properties of everyday materials and finish the half term with an investigation to identify the best material for an umbrella.
