At Buckingham Primary School we have been awarded the Gold Mark for PE two years running. We pride ourselves on the delivery of high quality physical literacy and games based PE lessons delivered by teachers and specialist PE professionals who have an experienced wide skill set. Children are encouraged to find their own level and strive to perfect their skills, consistently thriving and challenging themselves.
Our dance and gymnastics curriculum encourages creative and imaginative individual and collaborative work; our games curriculum enables our pupils to develop team building skills, understanding how the game works and enhancing strategic play. Furthermore, in our athletics curriculum there is a strong emphasis on developing the fundamental movement skills. Children are encouraged to work together to explore the dimensions of their individual abilities.
We have enviable facilities here at Buckingham Primary School including an AstroTurf pitch, a Performing Arts room with mirrored wall and sprung flooring, new outdoor gym equipment on our playground, field space and two large halls. The range of facilities enables children to reach their full potential in both indoor and outdoor sports. A comprehensive after school and lunchtime programme is designed to develop and inspire further the interests of each child, including dodgeball, dance and tag rugby.
We have long been a member of the School Sports Partnership and participate regularly in a variety of sporting festivals across a number of sports including tennis, hockey and basketball.
Opportunities for MAT (More Able and Talented) pupils are created through links with the wider sporting community which our team are able to access.
