Welcome to Foundation 2
Our Team - The teachers are Mr Sloss, Mrs Wilson and Miss Blakeley. The support staff are Mrs Roach, Mrs Drew
Welcome to the summer term!
Our new topic is ‘Our Wonderful World’. We will be learning interesting facts and traditions from different countries including learning about food, clothes, landscapes and celebrations. We will be encouraging role play around this theme and linking it to aspects such as healthy eating and summer. We will be continuing our visits to forest school where we will be searching for mini beasts and observing seasonal changes.
In Maths we are learning about estimation, addition, subtraction, shape, grouping and sharing.
Our daily phonics sessions will also be continuing, with children working on phase 2,3 & 4 sounds and words.
We also look forward to taking part in some exciting activities including learning about the Royal wedding, Go Ride Go workshops and our trip to Thrift Farm.
Please see our weekly updates in the school newsletter for further information about what the children have been learning and how you can support learning at home.
Very best wishes,
The children follow a broad and balanced curriculum, our aim being to achieve continuity and progression through the school with equal opportunities to apply knowledge and skills in a meaningful context both within the classroom and when accessing the excellent outdoor environments. In Foundation 2 children cover Phase 2 activities when they begin school. All of the children from both classes are put into different groups, according to their phonics knowledge.
They then move through the Letters and Sounds phases at a pace that matches their needs. For additional information and links to external websites that you may find useful please click here.
The children have many activities available in the indoor and outdoor areas which help them learn, support, enjoy, explore and challenge their mathematical understanding.
The environments aim to be ‘number rich’ so that children appreciate that numbers are all around them. For more information about numeracy in Foundation 2 please click here.
